Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Report

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

Our Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers domain sales from November 12 to November 18. The weekly report begins by addressing the elephant in the room, that being the massive $500,000 USD sale of kush.com. After that, there is the obvious falloff, with entertainment360.com being the next largest .COM transaction at $25,000 USD, followed by the other 5-figure domains in uen.com ($17,600 USD), schedulemaker.com ($11,995 USD), databased.com ($12,000 USD), nedstar.com ($11,500 USD), flagged.com ($11,000 USD), and ohmyhome.com ($10,000 USD). This week’s .COM report seems to go back to a more old school format of mostly word-based names, rather than the hipster pronounceable domains we’ve seen on previous charts. In all, we counted a total of 59 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is a big jump from both the 38 similar sales from last week and the 39 domains of 2 weeks back.

The ccTLD section of the recap also starts with a big sale, with grillen.de checking in at 41,990 EUR, and taking second place on the overall Sedo chart. There were also two others that hit 5-figures, as the LL domains wc.de and td.de sold for 29,000 EUR and 10,000 EUR, respectively.  There were a couple of other ccTLD short domain names on the chart, including 88.de (5,600 EUR) and coi.io ($2,950 USD) and it was another banner result for .DE domains. Overall, this week’s chart featured 16 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (a drop from both the 24 sales of last week and the 17 qualifying transactions from the week before that), with the overall auction leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (8 listings), .CO (2), .ME (2), and single entries for .CH, .IN, .IO, and .TV.

Last time out, the Other domain recap had the new gTLD crowd evenly matching the sales results of the old school .ORG/.NET domains, which is an extremely rare, if not unprecedented, occurrence. This week starts off with spiritual.life ($9,750 USD) and brand.app (5,000 UER) in the top 2 spots, while hide.online ($3,500 USD) and mojing.app ($2,000 USD) were not far back. There are also 3 .ORG domains on the list, led by the 3-letter aud.org at $3,995 USD, but it’s far too little too late, and we now have the new gTLD leading the old guard in both number of domains sold and overall dollar value. This week we had a total of 7 Other sales of $2K or higher, which a very slight increase from the 6 similar transactions of last week, but a larger drop against the 10 Other domains that were sold 2 weeks ago.
