Top 10 Trending Keywords in .COM and .NET Registrations for March
Verisign has released their Top 10 Trending .COM and .NET English Keywords for March 2018. These are the most popular registration keywords used during the month, and can give us an inside view of the hottest trends, news, styles, events, and even people, as it applies to registered .COM and .NET domain names.
In last month’s keyword list, the Versign blog had gone back to more standard terms like HELLO, FAN, CHAINS, AFTER, ENGINEER, and FUSION, along with the Black Panther-inspired WAKANDA, and while these specific keywords have changed a bit in March, the overall trend is very similar.
In terms of .COM registrations,the most popular keywords were PRESIDENT (naturally). PASSION, FORTNITE (popular game), and VIETNAM. The last keyword’s high placement is kind of surprising considering it’s been about 53 years since the US joined the war. We also have FAIRY, RATES and JUMBO scoring high on the chart, and my personal favorite is GRIT, which may or may not apply to that magazine with the zany comic ads.
There does not seem to be any cross pollination between the .COM and .NET lists, and it’s surprising to see that happen a few months in a row – back in the Crypto-Craze days, a good portion of each list was the same. Some of the notable .NET keywords include GENERAL, TAMPA, HOSPITAL, and KEEP, while PODCAST and AMAZON are interesting terms to see hitting the chart.
