Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Report

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

Our Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers domain sales from October 29 to November 4. The weekly report starts off with a monster sale, as user.com reached an even $150,000 USD to lead the entire Sedo chart. It was followed by vcasino.com at $46,000 USD, and then two other 5-figure auctions, as usonlinecasino.com and beboon.com each sold for $15,000 USD. There were a pair of Pizza-based domains on the list, as squarepizza.com and honestpizza.com sold for $7,500 USD and $4,500 USD, respectively, while the short, single-word emits.com looked like a real steal at only $2,500 USD. In all, we counted a total of 39 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is roughly equivalent to the 40 similar transactions from last week, but down a bit compared to the 47 sales of 2 weeks back.

The ccTLD section of the recap also begins with a major transaction, as the 2-letter wg.de sold for a massive 102,501 EUR (~$117K USD) thereby holding down a solid second place on the overall Sedo chart. That was it for the big ccTLD sales, and fahrzeuge.de (18,700 EUR) and pd.co.uk ($16,500 USD) were the only other two domains to hit 5-figures. In addition to the 2-letter powerhouse noted above, there were also several 3-letter domain sales, including nct.in (3,000 GBP), avq.co ($3,500 USD), and bot.de (2,655 EUR). Overall, this week’s chart featured 17 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (a slight drop from the 19 sales of last week but a nice jump compared to the 12 qualifying transactions from the week before that), with the overall auction leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (8 listings), .CO.UK (2), and single entries for .CN, .CO, .FR, .IN, .IO, .IT, and .PL.

It’s rare to see the Other domain recap’s sales tally hit double-digits, by we actually made it this week. The Other section was led by employment.org, which sold for a very nice $20,000 USD, followed by two more old guard domains, eyelevel.net (4,500 EUR) and skypad.net ($3,300 USD). This week we had 7 total domain sales from the .NET and .ORG camp (3 .NET and 4 .ORG), again making up the majority of transactions in this area, with .INFO (2) and .CLUB also charting. This time out we counted a total of 10 Other transactions of $2K or higher, which is a jump from the 7 sales of last week, and an even bigger increase against the 3 sales from 2 weeks ago.
