Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from May 6 to May 12, 2019. We start off the .COM section of this recap with our top overall sale of the week, as presale.com changed hands at $45,444 USD. This was followed by several other 5-figure price tags, including redcircle.com ($17,000 USD), nuuday.com ($15,000 USD), veridic.com (12,000 EUR), centure.com ($12,000 USD), modernanimal.com (11,000 EUR), and ejemplos.com (10,000 EUR), as well as a trio of auctions, yougrow.com, netdesk.com, and mymontage.com, all at an even $10,000 USD. In all, we counted a total of 42 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which compares well to the 35, 50, and 42, similar sales from the previous 3 Sedo domain recaps.

The ccTLD section is quite different from previous Sedo recaps, both in terms of the extensions and the overall sales numbers. We start off with the top ccTLD sale of the week, with hero.eu living up to its name by hitting a very impressive 29,000 EUR, making it the only 5-figure transaction in this section. Other notable domains include alberta.co ($6,500 USD), and the 4-letter domains boxy.io ($3,250 USD) and leya.co ($3,250). Overall, this week’s chart tumbled to only 8 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is down noticeably from the 17, 25, and 18 sales from the last 3 weeks), with the overall country leaders sorting out in this order: .CO (2 listings), and then single entries for .BE, .DE, .EU, .FR, .IO, and .MX. Interestingly, this may be the first Sedo recap we’ve written that did not have the German .DE at least tied for the lead.

The Other section of our recap holds a bit more excitement this week, as we have more sales to report, and one of them – happy.info at $10,000 USD – even hit 5-figures. It’s also not that big of a drop-off after that, as both invariant.net ($9,000 USD) and helena.org ($8,000 USD) stay very close. The new vs. old guard battle is not that tight, and although the top sale goes to the new gTLD side, the rest all sport .ORG and .NET extensions, translating into a resounding victory for the “Original 2” Other TLDs. In terms of overall sales, the 8 total Other domain sales of $2K or greater are at right the top range of the 6, 8, and 5 transaction from the last 3 weekly updates.
