Top Picks
There are almost exactly the same number of listings in this week’s TBR list as there was last week, but the difference in both quantity and quality couldn’t be more stark. Last time out featured a massive explosion of single-word domains, many premium in nature, on a level rarely experienced before. Out of the 8400+ domains this week, it was truly surprising how few premium domains there were.
The total .CA TBR listings for January 16 check in at 8,487, which represents a jump of only 51 domains compared to the 8,436 we had last week. When combined with the 7,816 and 7,535 entries from the two weeks prior to that, this gives us a new and higher (by 43) weekly average of 8,069 TBR listings through the prior month.
The slightly higher TBR .CA numbers surprisingly translated into a huge drop in quality across the board, with fewer quality single-words, and even though there was a bump in the number of available LLLs, none of these qualified as premium. In addition, several NNN domains hit the TBR, but unfortunately these all started with a zero – what a week!
There were still a few premium domains available, but the selection is low and we certainly didn’t get that “killer domain” that dominates the list. Our Top Picks this week include AMONG.CA, IMPROVISE.CA, PATRICE.CA,and CRYPTOBITCOIN.CA.
Among.ca – A nice short single-word that evokes a feeling of belonging or comradery, and could be used as a brandable.
Improvise.ca – Another semi-premium single-word that can be used in a variety of areas, from business to theater.
Patrice.ca – These first-name/last-name domains are always popular, especially as these are usually present at the start of a lot of business names.
CryptoBitcoin.ca – The Crypto market isn’t as hot as it used to be, but this domain combines two of the hottest terms.

Words of the Week
Both the quality and quantity of single-words has dropped back to standard levels, and this came as quite a shock compared to the virtual explosion we had last week. Although not present on the Top Picks, many of these word domains have potential, such as Chronical.ca, Exonerate.ca, Hibernate.ca, Kourtney.ca, Plague.ca, Populate.ca, Predicts.ca, Saturate.ca, Tuft.ca, and Windy.ca.

Conversely, the available LLL leftover domains jumped to 18 this week (a big spike compared to the 4 domains of last week but roughly equivalent to the 20 from the week before that) and surprisingly, there was not a single one that we could (in good conscience) refer to as “premium”. There are some second-tier options, including AZH.ca, BQH.ca, TJB.ca, and XBI.ca, but none of these is especially attractive either.
These LLLs all have some issues, such as containing at least one undesirable character (J, Q, X, Y, Z), and/or the letter combination is too low-end to hit our Top Picks. Unfortunately, the remaining lowest-tier LLLs will likely have very limited uses in the small Canadian business market.
