On December 18 at 7 PM UTC/2 PM EST, exactly 83 .CA domain names were selected from this week’s TBR list, which compares to the 81, 86, and 115 totals of the last 3 reports. In terms of predictions, I finally caught a break and hit the bottom edge of the target by predicting an 80-90 range guesstimate this week.
Historically, .CA TBR runs usually hit right around 100, and with another below-average result, the long-term weekly average decreases from 97 to 91 selections as our new mean over the last 4 reports, which represents a net change of -6.
The TBR selection process takes place in 5-second intervals or rounds, with each Registrar Connection allowed a single pick per round, taken from TBR orders (usually ranked by the dollar amount bid) placed by companies, web developers, domain investors, and hobbyists.
The TBR list increased slightly and stayed just above the 8,000 domain mark this week, but the overall quality of LLL and single-words dropped noticeably, while the number of aged, premium multi-words remained high. Due to this it’s surprising that the TBR results increased slightly from 81 to 83, where some of the notable Top 10 picks included ERECT.CA, TICKETSHOP.CA, SIMCARD.CA, SPORTSCLINIC.CA, and BIOSECURITY.CA.
