Trends
After 3 weeks of steadily declining TBR numbers, we finally caught a break this time as our domain count jumped up to 8,201 total listings, which represented a significant weekly increase (+463) compared to the 7,738 entries of last week. When combined with the 8,124 and 8,353 TBR domains from the two weeks before that, this translates into a new and lower (by -221) weekly average of 8,104 TBR entries through the prior month.

Top Picks
The .CA numbers did increase to just over 8,000 domains, but it’s still not a banner week for ultra-premiums, although there are still a few that deserve attention. These run the gamut from numeric to 3-letter to single-word and even a couple of multi-word generics, highlighted by 259.CA, BRC.CA, HUD.CA, GOBLET.CA, BOXOFFICE.CA, and SPORTSHOP.CA.
259.ca – The 3-number market is a popular one, assuming it does not have the dreaded “starting zero” and features at least one “lucky Chinese number” – in this case, both 2 and 9 are deemed lucky, while 5 is a wash, so this NNN has positive traits with no clear negatives.
BRC.ca – Off the market since at least 2000, it’s easily the top LLL on the list and also our top TBR pick of the week. The starting “BR” is very nice but the ending “C” is the top dog and is able to stand in for Canada, Company, or Corporation, along with many others like Collections, Creative, Commerce, Contract, etc.
HUD.ca – Another nicely-aged (2003) LLL, and along with the pronounceable aspect, the letter combination is still good, with the ending “D” filling in for Development, Dental/Dentist, Data, Department, Discount, Design, Distribution, Dealer, Debt, Division, Deposit, and many, many others.
Goblet.ca – A clear singular word that is highly recognizable, along with offering a higher-end, more affluent and established connotation.
Rigor.ca – A short name that evokes an uncompromising, or even tough, meaning, but it can still be useful in many business sectors.
BoxOffice.ca – This week offers a selection of premium 2-word generics, and in addition to being in wide use, this is another aged gem (2000 or earlier) primed for development.
SportShop.ca – Our second 2-word option has also been off the domain market since at least 2000, and offers a premium generic suited for a wide range of sports-based promotions.

The number of lower-end 3-letter domains has dropped a bit this week, settling in at 12, which compares to the 16, 5, and 11 leftover range from the prior 3 weeks . Unfortunately, the two premium + aged options from our Top Picks are clearly the cream of the LLL crop and the leftovers have neither of these qualities.
Lower-end LLLs usually translate into having very limited uses in the smaller-scale Canadian business market. Remember, quality truly matters in the .CA marketplace and in general, one premium 3-letter will always be a sounder long-term investment than a set of lower-end LLL domains.
