Trends
The overall TBR numbers have dropped to 8,091 expired domains this recap, barely squeaking over the line and making it the 5th week in a row at over 8K listing. This represented a noticeable weekly decrease (of -672) compared to the 8,763 entries of last week. When combined with the 8,148 and 8,570 TBR numbers from the two weeks before that, this translates into a new and slightly lower (by -50) weekly average of 8,393 TBR listings through the prior month.

Top Picks
The .CA numbers dropped back to just above the 8,000 domain line and just barely extended our 8K+ streak – the only reason it did was due a portion of last week’s list (like 154.CA) not making it to TBR selection, and being repeated this run. It is a relatively tame week in virtually all segments of the TBR expiry list, with a lot of useful domain options, but few (if any) true premiums to be found. The same as last week, there are many candidates for the “Hall of Very Good”, and our weekly Top Picks List features 748.CA, AYJ.CA, ELLIPSIS.CA, FOUNDERS.CA, WORKHOUSE.CA, and MINIGAMES.CA.
154.ca – 3-character numerics are always popular, assuming they do not start with the dreaded “0”, but as it includes a “4” this one is at the lower end of the scale in terms of “luckiness”.
748.ca – Another NNN option, this time with a lucky “8” and an unlucky “4”, which gives it a slight edge over the prior numeric.
AHY.ca – Not a traditional LLL pick, but this has been a very hot TBR market of late, “A” is the most popular first letter for acronyms, and this also offers some phonetic value. The ending “Y” is troublesome, with viable options limited to terms like Year, Yield, Yard, and Yellow.
AYJ.ca – Another unusual choice, but this LLL is nicely aged (2005) and is in business use, although not as an acronym. The starting “A” is top-notch, but the ending “J” isn’t that bad and is able to stand in for Job/Jobs, Joint, Jeweler, Jewelry, Journal/Journalism, Justice, Java, Jet, Judgement, Judicial, Junior, Japan, Junk, Journey, etc.
Ellipsis.ca – This word always reminds me of James Bond, which is not necessarily a bad thing, and it’s a unique brandable that has noticeable business use in many areas.
Founders.ca – A well aged (2002) domain that is also used in many business names, and remember when seeing an “S” at the end of a word, this can not only represent the plural, but also the possessive (‘s).
MiniGames.ca – Another aged name that is pretty well ubiquitous when it comes to online games, and is virtually a ready-made platform for “minigames” – if that’s your style.
WorkHouse.ca – We toss another aged (2002) domain up on the auction block, and one that is not only currently used in company names but that could also be branded to a wide range of new businesses.

The number of lower-end 3-letter domains has dropped to only 5 this week, which compares to the 8, 14, and 4 LLL leftover range from the previous 3 weeks. The overall selection is still very low-end, with AYV.ca and XNK.ca being slightly above the bottom-of-the-barrel.
Lower-end LLLs usually translate into having very limited uses in the smaller-scale Canadian business market. Quality truly matters in the .CA marketplace and in general, one premium 3-letter will always be a sounder long-term investment than a set of lower-end LLL domains.
