Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from April 8 to April 14, 2019. We start off the .COM section of this recap with a 3-letter transaction, as the semi-premium kpo.com sold for $33,000 USD to lead the .COM side of things. After that it was a big drop-off and the other 5-figure sales (in relative USD) included capiche.com ($12,000 USD), bwco.com ($11,000 USD), gruporg.com (10,000 GBP), then moneyvox.com, hempdirectory.com, fxgt.com, and nextguest.com, each of which sold for an even $10,000 USD, and then we close off with autopiter.com (9,900 EUR) and chacon.com (9,850 EUR). In all, we counted a total of 54 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which compares closely to the 50, 52, and 42 similar sales from the previous 3 Sedo domain recaps.

The ccTLD section begins with the biggest sale of the week, as the 2-letter ia.de changed hands with a massive 55,000 EUR price tag. This was followed by the other 5-figure ccTLD transaction, with lootjes.nl hitting a very nice 29,500 EUR. Someone is definitely after the brandable lyst (most likely the fashion search site), and this week both lyst.ch and lyst.at sold for 5,500 EUR each. The 3-letter contingent was also firing on all cylinders and $2K+ charted sales included kik.ro (4,000 EUR), who.st ($3,699 USD), qad.nl (2,900 EUR), wer.io ($2,800 USD), xue.cc ($2,500 USD), and ieo.co ($2,000 USD), while the 2-letter lq.be came along for the ride at 2,200 EUR. Overall, this week’s chart featured 22 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which compares favorably to the 15, 20, and 20 sales from the last 3 weeks), with the overall country leaders sorting out in this order: .CH (3 listings), .DE (3 listings), .NL (2), .TV (2), .US (2), and then single entries for .AT, .BE, .CC, .CO, .FR, .ID, .IO, .IT, .RO, and .ST.

The Other section of our recap is a bit longer story than usual and one that starts off with a big bang as historica.org hit 5-figures and sold for an impressive 14,875 EUR. This was followed by dubai.app at $10,000 USD, but prices dropped off the table at this point, and the next highest sales were assistant.app ($5,000 USD), drone.info ($3,900 USD), vyas.net ($3,000 USD), arcade.one ($3,000 USD), and george.pro (2,019 EUR). In terms of sales numbers, the new gTLD insurgents slaughtered the old guard with a 6 to 3 advantage in transactions, and also led in sales dollars by approximately $4,000 USD. The 9 total Other domain sales of $2K or greater is actually a high water mark of late, and compares to the 5, 3, and 4 sales from the last 3 weekly updates.
