Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from April 15 to April 21, 2019. We start off the .COM section of this recap with the top sale of the week, as hotta.com reached the 6-figure mark and sold for a very nice $100,000 USD. There was a significant drop-off after that and the 5-figure (in relative USD) transactions featured endlesssummer.com ($20,000 USD), lantek.com ($19,000 USD), toki.com ($12,000 USD), and ehventures.com ($10,000 USD). Other notable domain sales included the 2-word domains playwell.com ($9,500 USD), truescope.com ($6,500 USD), and cushionshop.com ($4,988 USD), the pronounceables pixai.com (8,000 GBP) and renovatio.com ($6,500 USD), along with the name/word domains hallers.com (4,500 EUR) and dandies.com ($3,988 USD). In all, we counted a total of 42 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is down slightly from the 54, 50, and 52 similar sales from the previous 3 Sedo domain recaps.

The ccTLD section begins with the premium ecommerce.co selling for a cool 15,000 EUR, marking the lone 5-figure ccTLD transaction of the week (though allergieberatung.de at 9,000 EUR may have also qualified, depending on the exchange rate). There were a couple of 3-letter domains that changed hands, including ada.ag ($3,898 USD), ias.ai ($3,800 USD), and uap.io ($2,588 USD), along with several 1-word entries like ruby.us ($4,999 USD), chair.ch (3,490 EUR), delta.io ($2,999 USD), shag.co.uk (2,000 GBP), and pulsar.ca ($2,000 USD). Overall, this week’s chart featured 18 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which compares favorably to the 22, 15, and 20 sales from the last 3 weeks), with the overall country leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (3 listings), .CO.UK (2), .ES (2), .IO (2), .IT (2), and then single entries for .AG, .AI, .CA, .CH, .CO, .EU, and .US.

The Other section of our recap highlights the usual battle between the new and old gTLDs, and this week the new kids on the block are really taking it to the old rockers. We start off with realestate.asia closing at a very healthy 14,500 EUR, with the next-largest transaction in this area being sosa.net at $4,000 USD. After that came a single .ORG and a pair of .APP domain sales, which means that the new gTLD contingent held the lead in both total sales and total dollar amount, making that two weeks in a row. In terms of overall numbers, the 5 total Other domain sales of $2K or greater still compares well to the 8, 5, and 3 sales from the last 3 weekly updates.
