Trends
The number of .CA TBR listings for July 31 barely missed reaching the 9K beach, clocking in at 8,884. This is a noticeable jump from last week’s 8,080 .CA domains, resulting in a weekly increase of 804 listings and the end of a very long downward trend. When combined with the 8,541 and 8,652 entries from the two weeks prior to that, it gives us a new and slightly higher (by +47) weekly average of 8,539 TBR domains through the prior month.
Top Picks
Unfortunately, there are really no true premium domains on this week’s TBR list, with even the best options relegated to the “Hall of Very Good”. Due to this, there is no reason to compile a Top Picks List this week, just to fill up the slots with a few upper mid-range choices.
I will address the elephant in the room, that being Pixar.ca (previously owned by Logistiques Pixar Inc.) – someone is obviously going to select this domain, but keep in mind that Disney is among the most litigious of all corporations, and they hold Pixar TMs in a wide variety of areas. As dtagr on NamePros aptly stated when I asked how to handle this: Just create a new category called “Trademark Trouble” or “Headache” or “Money Pit”.

Words of the Week
The overall number of single-word domains remains high, but the quality is low due to an abundance of plurals and esoteric terms. That said, some of the better options are Acheteur.ca, Angora.ca, Apparent.ca, Biometric.ca, Catharine.ca, Dominance.ca, Glebe.ca, Stave.ca, Such.ca, and Wondrous.ca.
* I have received a few comments and wanted to cover it here. When you see a seemingly-misspelled word with an “s” as the end, like Bunnys.ca or Buffalos.ca on this list, it is not intended to indicate the plural, but in the possessive sense like “Bunny’s Bakery” or Buffalo’s Best Wings”, i.e. how the word brand (without the apostrophe) would need to look as a domain.
