Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Report

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

Our Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers domain sales from October 15 to October 21. This week, we counted 6 .COM domain sales that reached 5-figures, led by another major transaction, as fingerpaint.com sold for a massive $75,000 USD. This was followed by casinonyc.com at $27,300 USD, along with hexacom.com ($19,500 USD), vaulted.com ($17,000 USD), betflorida.com ($14,995 USD), and pixelle.com (10,000 EUR), while bithand.com came extremely close at $9,999 USD. Overall, we counted a total of 47 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is a healthy increase from both the 36 and 38 similar transactions from the previous two weeks.

The ccTLD section of the recap also starts off with a bang, and we have forum.eu hitting second place on the Sedo chart with a big $42,500 USD sale. Unfortunately, that was the lone ccTLD domain to hit 5-figures, but some other domain transactions of note include vorsorgesparen.ch (6,694 EUR), bredband.nu (6,600 EUR), juliet.be (3,900 EUR), avrio.de (3,300 EUR), and vipcasino.ca ($3,500 USD). Overall, this week’s chart featured 12 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (a small drop from the 20 sales of last week but a nice increase compared to the 9 qualifying transactions from the week before that), with the overall auction leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (4 listings), and single entries for .BE, .CA, .CH, .CN, .CO.UK, .EU, .IO, and .NU.

The number of domains on the Other domain recap has hit a disheartening level, and this is exacerbated by the fact that the new gTLDs outsold the old guard. With only 3 sales in the Other category, this is not exactly a trend, but edge.network did lead the section with a nice 6,500 EUR sale, and bringo.net at $3,500 USD was the lone .NET or .ORG on the list. As stated, this week we charted only 3 Other transactions of $2K or higher, which is an obvious drop from the 9 sales of last week, but is surprisingly equivalent to the 3 sales from 2 weeks ago.
