Top 10 Trending Keywords in .COM and .NET Registrations for June
Verisign has released their Top 10 Trending .COM and .NET English Keywords for June 2018. These are the most popular domain registration keywords used during the month, and can help give us an inside view of the hottest trends, news, styles, events, and even people, as it applies to registered .COM and .NET domain names.
In last month’s keyword list, the Versign blog was taken over by the State-sanctioned gambling bug, and it looked like a seedy bar, sporting top keywords like BOOKIE, BET, GAMBLING, BETTING, and SPORTS. Once again, these keywords have changed considerably in June, moving towards more power, business and generic terms.
The .COM registrations show this immediately, with keywords like FORCE, EXPLORE, CERAMIC, and ACCIDENT placing right at the top of the list. Further down we find others like SUPPLEMENT, COATING, REALM and SCOOTER, giving us a wide range of keywords rather than the GoodFellas-like vibe we had last month. I especially like the power keywords like FORCE and EXPLORE, as these automatically evoke a certain emotion, goal or mindset.
It’s quite similar in the .NET section of the keyword chart, and although SPACE, INSURANCE and SIDE outrank it, we do find some cross-pollination between the two with the repeat appearance of FORCE in the .NET list. This may have a bit of a Star Wars influence to it, but it cannot account for all the increase in keyword usage. We also find MARKETING, ENERGY and CONSTRUCTION on the .NET chart, providing more of a business atmosphere to the overall keyword list
