Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Report

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers domain sales from July 9 to July 15. Right at the top of the .COM chart we find one of the more noteworthy Bitcoin-related domains, btcexchange.com, selling for a respectable $55,000 USD. This seems like a low price compared to other Crypto domain sales, but perhaps the market is down or the 11 character length had an effect. There were 8 other transactions that reached 5-figures, including okdo.com hitting 35,000 GBP, wormholes.com going for $32,500 USD and highlife.com at $18,000 USD. Overall, we counted 46 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which represents a nice jump from the 30 sales in last week’s chart and is even a slight increase compared to the the 42 domain qualifiers from two weeks ago.

The ccTLD section of the Sedo chart starts off with the single-word park.co.uk selling for 22,500 GBP, followed by another word domain share.co checking in at at a price of 18,000 EUR. Other ccTLD domain sales of interest are 360.tv (5,907 EUR), doc.co.uk ($6,000 USD), netid.nl (5,000 EUR), app.do ($3,000 USD), and a rare single-letter sighting as x.tf sold for $3,800 USD. This is a very interesting list of domains, and some of these may be viewed as bargains in the coming years. In all, this week’s chart highlighted 24 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (a nice increase compared to both the 16 sales from last week and the 18 of the week before that), and the overall auction leaders came out in this order: .DE (7 listings). CO.UK (3), .CH (2), and single entries for .CO, CZ, .DO, .ES, .GE, .IO, .JP, .KR, .NL, .PL, .TF, and .TV.

The Other domain recap is starting to get back to its .NET and .ORG roots and this week we again see these extensions taking over the list. It is weighted more towards the .ORG camp this time, as kyg.org leads the way at $8,800 USD, followed by aho.org ($3,000 USD), digitalpioneers.org ($2,788 USD) and spreadshirt.org ($2,500 USD). In a bit of a coincidence, last week we saw reward.net selling for an even $10K USD, and this week its plural rewards.net checks in at 4,488 EUR. The Other domain sale chart remained static at 7 entries, the same number as last week, but this is an improvement compared to the 4 domains that hit $2K USD the week before that.
