Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Report

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

Our Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers domain sales from November 19 to November 25. We start off this recap with nfc.com, which sold for a hefty 68,200 EUR. This domain sale was followed by six other listings that also hit 5-figures (in relative USD), including eking.com ($28,000 USD), manal.com ($26,684 USD), kanso.com ($12,000 USD), skyorganics.com ($11,500 USD), thrivelabs.com ($11,000 USD), and reciclajes.com (9,000 EUR). There are also a several 5-letter domains on this list, such as potex.com at 8,000 EUR, stema.com going for 5,500 EUR, and bifex.com hitting 3,900 EUR, among many others, and a lot are heading to Europe.  In all, we counted a total of 38 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is a noticeable drop from the 59 similar sales from last week but equivalent to the the 38 domains of 2 weeks back.

The ccTLD section does not have that “big sale” it usually does, and kinship.co selling for $11,000 USD was the largest transaction in this area. This was followed by kurier.de (9,000 EUR), sisal.es (8,000 EUR), and smarter.eu (4,000 EUR), while several 3-letter domains also changed hands, such as sni.co.kr ($3,600 USD), bse.eu (2,500 GBP), and cny.io ($2,950 USD). Overall, this week’s chart featured 15 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (roughly equivalent to the 16 sales of last week but a drop from the 24 qualifying transactions of the week before that), with the overall auction leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (3 listings), .CO (2), .EU (2), .NL (2), and single entries for .AT, .CN, .CO.KR, .ES, .FR, and .IO.

Last week, we got some shocking news in the form of the new gTLDs taking over the Other domain list, and seemingly putting the old gTLD guard out to pasture. This week we see a resurgence of the .ORG and .NET contingent, as these take the lion’s share of the transactions and only leave a single entry for the new guys. We start off the list with sto.org selling for a very nice $25,000 USD, followed by have.fun at $11,500 USD and vtube.net going for $9,999 USD. The rest were all .ORG and .NET domains, demonstrating that the trend towards new gTLDs was not a long-term one. This time out we had a total of 7 Other sales of $2K or higher, which equivalent to the 7 similar transactions of last week, and very close to the 6 Other domains that were sold 2 weeks ago.
