Top 10 Trending Keywords in .COM and .NET Registrations for September
Verisign has released their Top 10 Trending .COM and .NET English Keywords for September 2018. These are the most popular domain registration keywords used during the month, and can help give us an inside view of the hottest trends, news, styles, events, and even people, as it applies to registered .COM and .NET domain names.
In last month’s keyword list, the Versign blog was another goldmine of generic terms like FAN, GRID, GRAD, HOTELS, HARD, and APPS. There was no cross-pollination between the two word lists last month, which is not surprising by itself, as it’s been a few months since the two charts included some shared duplicates.
In September, the .COM registrations continue along similar lines, with the top keywords being ASSET, ORGANIC, KIOSK, SETS, and CANE. There were also more specific terms like PLEX (a media streaming tool), FLORENCE (name or GEO), and the very interesting KRATOM, which is a medicinal tree.
The .NET section of the keyword chart starts off on a similar note, with another “medicinal herb”, MARIJUANA, sitting in the top spot. It is followed by REMOVAL, CANE, TITAN (a Thanos influence?), SUSTAIN, and FIBER.
Strangely, we have a pair of keywords that appear on both lists, CANE and FLORENCE, which is a bit of a surprise given the press attention centered on MARIJUANA lately. Both the .COM and .NET lists are also very similar in overall content and tone, which is a very rare occurrence.
