Top 10 Trending Keywords in .COM and .NET Registrations for November
Verisign has released their Top 10 Trending .COM and .NET English Keywords for November 2018. These are the most popular domain registration keywords used during the month, and can help give us an inside view of the hottest trends, news, styles, events, and even people, as it applies to registered .COM and .NET domain names.
In last month’s keyword list, the Versign blog shifted towards more of a business-oriented set of keywords, including DRUG, CORPORATION, STUDIO, MARIJUANA, and LIMITED. There were also several other keywords on the .COM and .NET lists, such as INDY, RARE, JUST, VERY, and BEACH, but there was no cross-pollination between the two keyword sets, as not even the ganja movement was strong enough to hit both.
In November, the .COM registrations start off on a Crypto slant, with TOKEN taking the top spot, followed by TRAIL and then a pair of legal terms in CUSTODY and LITIGATION. Along that same trend, we have DIVORCE a bit further down, as well as the weekday keyword FRIDAY and the GEO term JAMAICA. Overall, it was a nice mix of .COM keywords this month, but with a definite shift towards the legal end of the spectrum.
The .NET section of the keyword chart begins with COLLEGE, and as UNIVERSITY shows up a bit later, the educational influence is pretty clear. Home-based interest also play a part with REPAIR, BUILDING, GARAGE, POOL, and DOOR all showing further down on the list, giving the two keyword lists a very different look and feel.
Once again, each of the .COM and .NET keywords are only present in one list and there is no cross-pollination between the two. This is the second month in a row this has happened, but at least we don’t have the duplication of “hot topic/pop culture/TM issues” that we have had in the past.
