Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Report

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher. This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .NET, .ORG and other gTLDs.

Although the .COM section of the Sedo Weekly Domain Name Sales Recap for March 6 holds 44 out of the 78 total sales, none of them are truly noteworthy. The highest domain sales are avicenna.com and new50.com, which sold for 20,000 EUR and $23,205 USD, respectively, and were followed closely by the Crypto-domain coinlink.com at $22,000 USD. The domains ninjamarketing.com ($12,500 USD), mikkeller.com ($10,500 USD) and keko.com ($10,099 USD) were the only others to hit 5-figures this week. Other Crypto related domain sales included coincredit.com (6,900 EUR), coinfeed.com ($7,500 USD) and cryptocrate.com ($2,499 USD), and our favorite .COM sale of the week had to be smutking.com at an even $5K USD, just for the sheer audacity of the domain name.

The ccTLD section of the chart has one big sale that obliterates anything on the .COM chart, as nurture.co sold for a cool $45,000 USD, giving more weight to the theory that “.CO is the place to GO” if the .COM, .NET and .ORG are either already taken or priced too high for the budget. There was one other .CO word domain sale, as supply.co went for 4,285 EUR, but that was it for this week. Other major sales include matrimonio.cl (10,000 EUR), circus.pe (9,999 EUR) and good.ai ($10,000 USD). Of the 26 ccTLD listings, the overall auction leaders came out in this order: .IO (4 listings), .DE (4), .CO (2), and a laundry list of ccTLDS at 1 each.

The Other category only numbered 8 domains sold, but one of them is a real whopper as star.org sold for an incredible $225,000 USD. Not to be outdone, a second entrant also blew away the .COM competition, with blockchain.ventures going for an impressive $42,000 USD. The boffo sales end there, but a pair of LLL domains, uon.org ($7,140 USD) and trn.org ($3,400 USD), along with ipos.org ($2,600 USD), really kept the .ORG party hopping. But in a twist ending, while .ORG was thriving, not a single .NET domain registered on the chart – we’ve said this before, but many non-.COM buyers are starting to prefer .ORG to .NET and this is being borne out in the SEDO sales numbers.
