Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from September 2 to September 9, 2019. We start off the .COM section of this recap with the two big dogs, as freeenglish.com sold for $20,700 USD to lead the entire chart, followed closely by the 4-letter pronounceable yoba.com at $20,000 USD. The remaining 5-figure domains feature medwings.com ($18,400 USD), connectventures.com ($18,000 USD), and cuboid.com (10,115 EUR). There were a lot of .COM pronounceables on the list this week, and some of the more notables ones are bomia.com ($9,995 USD), presst.com ($9,000 USD), orchyd.com ($4,435 USD), nixr.com (2,731 EUR), and kwark.com ($2,500 USD). In all, we counted a total of 34 .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which remains in the same basic range as the 33, 30, and 35 qualifiers of the last three Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section only features a single domain sporting a 5-figure price tag, coop.ie at 10,100 EUR, although the retro portable.tv clocking in just a hair away at $9,999 USD. Other domain transactions of interest include the word-based cyber.cl (7,500 EUR), babyland.no (6,000 EUR), oreiller.fr (“pillow” in English at 3,000 EUR), independent.ch (2,490 EUR), and genom.de (2,350 EUR). Overall, this week’s chart featured 17 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is on par with the 18, 19, and 17 range of similar transactions from the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (6 listings), and then single entries for .AT, .CH, .CL, .COM.AU, .FR, .IE, .IN, .IO, .NL, .NO, and .TV.

The Other section of our recap breaks away from last week’s new gTLD trend and returns to its .ORG roots. The section leader sersc.org changed hands for $6,250 USD, while gosling.org ($4,599), scientists.org ($4,000 USD), and polling.org ($2,000 USD) completed the run. The only non-.ORG domain on the list was the crypto-3-letter btc.mobi at a respectable $4,995 USD, but that wasn’t enough to halt an easy victory for the old school gTLDs in both the total number and total dollar value challenge segments. The Other section checked in with 5 total domain sales, which sticks to the same relative pattern as the 4, 3, and 11 transactions from our last 3 weekly updates.
