Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from December 2 to December 8, 2019. We start off the .COM section of the recap with the top sale of the week, as onehome.com changed hands at a very healthy $70,000 USD, which was surprisingly followed by the only other 5-figure domain on the list, as quaestor.com checked in at $26,000 USD. After that it was a huge drop-off down to the hyphenated crypto-mine.com at a price of only $6,206 USD. There was really no overall trend on the Sedo chart, and other top .COM entries included modzero.com ($4,995 USD), techgrove.com ($4,900 USD), blian.com ($4,800 USD), and biblebud.com ($4,495 USD). In all, we counted a total of 35 .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which falls just below the same area as the 38, 41, and 37 qualifiers from our prior three Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section begins with a bang, as nutztierhaltung.de hits 22,000 EUR to lead this section, staying just ahead of a trio of 5-figure challengers comprised of gartenwelt.de (14,280 EUR), mischanlage.de (11,900 EUR), and qmt.fr (10,000 EUR). To say it’s looking like a good week for .DE would be a gross understatement, as this ccTLD accounted for 12 qualifying transactions (a full 60% of the ccTLD list), and it’s extremely rare for any one of these extensions to reach double-figures. We also had a rare 2-character sale, with n2.de sporting a price tag of 6,500 EUR, alongside a pair of LLL transactions in rsp.eu (3,040 EUR) and fib.ch (2,799 EUR). Overall, this week’s chart featured 20 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is just below the range of 22, 26, and 22 similar transactions from the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (12 listings), .CH (2), .FR (2), and then single entries for .CZ, .EU, .IO, and .UK.

The Other section of the Sedo chart gets off to a rousing start with the 3-letter can.org selling for a full $20,000 USD, but unfortunately this is the lone 5-figure domain, as the single-word innovator.org just missed at $9,750 USD and the rare 2-letter kb.org looks like a relative value at only 6,300 EUR. The last two entries were from the new gTLD camp, providing at least some level of competition for the old guard, which still handily took both the total domain number and the total dollar value challenges.
