Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Report

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from January 28 to February 3, 2019. We begin with the top .COM listing, as pay21.com sold for $25,000 USD, followed by upholdings.com hitting $15,000 USD, amercia.com (this is a clever domain, as it visually evokes “America” but also spells like it sounds) going for $14,000 USD, coinance.com garnering $12,500 USD, while egito.com and colorcards.com round out the 5-figure club with price tags of $12,000 and $10,000 USD, respectively. The overall .COM trend was one of 2-word domains dominating the chart, although there were more mixed character (alpha + numeric) and hyphens than we expected in price list of this type. In all, we counted a total of 46 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which compares closely to the 45, 42, and 41 similar sales from the previous 3 Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section starts off with fullservice.de (12,500 EUR), haltungskompass.de (10,000 EUR), piggy.eu (8,500 EUR), and uknow.de (5,232 EUR). This continues  our long-reigning .DE popularity contest, with the top two domain listings sporting this extension, and three of the top four. It was another relatively short list this week, but we did have a trio of 3-letter domains to spice things up, including dev.me (5,000 EUR), clp.io ($2,988 USD), and ldr.fr (2,050 EUR). Overall, this week’s chart featured 13 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which we can measure against the 13 sales last week, the 12 of the week before that, and the 14 sales of 3 weeks ago), with the overall auction leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (6 listings), and then single entries for .CH, .CO.UK, .EU, .FR, .HK, .IO, and .ME.

The Other section of our recap features another small set of domain transactions, starting with the big dog on the list as might.org sold for $5,800 USD, and continuing with adcube.net and charityauction.org hitting $4,888 and $2,950 USD, respectively. After a bit of new gTLD uprising last week, we’re back to an old school reunion this time, as the .ORG/.NET contingent held down 5 of the 6 Other domain listings. These 6 total listing in the Other section compare to the 5 sales last week, and also the 4 and 7 transactions from the two weeks before that.
