Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from May 11, 2020 to May 17, 2020. We start off the .COM section of this recap with a very significant transaction, as the speedy electriccar.com finished with a price tag of $180,000 USD to lead the entire Sedo chart. That was the lone 6-figure sale of the week, but the numeric 1269.com checked in at a very nice $40,500 USD, along with crematory.com ($12,000 USD) and mobidrive.com (10,000 EUR) rounding out our 5-figure club. In all, we counted a total of 51 .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which exceeded the 36, 32, and 47 qualifier range of our prior three Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section of our recap begins with the word domain wholesome.co selling for an impressive $17,500 USD, while another single-word ambulance.fr also hit 5-figures at 10,010 EUR. The next-closest was infirmieres.fr sporting a price tag of 9,000 EUR, with some of the more interesting other ccTLD sales being site.co ($5,000 USD), server.hk ($3,000 USD) and a trio of 3-letter domains including uhs.be (3,040 EUR), ona.fr (3,000 EUR), and axf.in (2,000 GBP). Overall, this week’s chart featured 25 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which also sits above the range of 18, 18, and 21 similar transactions from the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (10 listings), .FR (3), .CH (2), .CO (2), and then single entries for .AE, .BE, .CO.UK, .HK, .IN, .IT, .NL, and .US.

The Other portion of the Sedo chart gets off to a rousing start with with new gTLD pop.shop taking it to the old guard with a section-leading price of $28,650 USD. Next up is champions.net ($7,000 USD), another .shop with feed.shop ($5,000 USD), and then saveplanetearth.org ($2,500 USD). The remainder of this area was the same, translating into a tie (3-3) between the old and new gTLDs in our total domain number challenge, but the total dollar value challenge wasn’t even close and pop.shop alone could have taken this one. We tallied 6 domain sales in this week’s Other section, which rests just inside the 7, 7, and 3 transaction range of our last 3 weekly updates.
