Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from May 4, 2020 to May 10, 2020. We start off the .COM section of this recap with a 3-letter domain, as txo.com hauls in $27,500 USD to lead both the .COM area and the entire Sedo chart. There were only a pair of other 5-figure transactions, with realprice.com hitting 10,000 EUR and emailacademy.com not far back at $$10,000 USD. The 2-word transparentwealth.com is next closest at $9,000 USD, and some of the other notable .COM domain sales included zevio.com ($7,999 USD), bleux.com ($4,900 USD), archiver.com (4,300 EUR), and chups.com ($4,850 USD). In all, we counted a total of 36 .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which fits just inside the 32, 47, and 39 qualifier range of our prior three Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section of our recap begins with the 2-letter dp.co.uk breaking the 5-figure barrier at 10,250 GBP, although meinungsfreiheit.de matched the feat in relative USD, checking in at 9,520 EUR. The 2-letter sw.pe ($3,999 USD) also stood out, as did fiverr.at (5,000 EUR), ami.eu (3,250 EUR), amerika.at (3,000 EUR), and the first-name kaya.ca ($3,000 USD). Overall, this week’s chart featured 18 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which sits within the range of 18, 21, and 17 similar transactions from the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (7 listings), .AT (2), and then single entries for .CA, .CH, .CN, .CO, .CO.UK, .EU, .NL, .PE, and .US.

The Other portion of the Sedo chart had the new gTLD crowd mounting a limited uprising last week, but this week we’re back to standard operating procedures. The 3-letter amk.net leads the way at an impressive $9,800 USD, while liftoff.org and arthistory.org sold for $6,000 and $4,400 USD, respectively. The remainder of the Other domain list is very similar and the lone new gTLD entry is the appropriately-named one.gmbh sitting at 3,500 EUR. Obviously the old guard won both the total dollar value and total domain number challenge crowns. We tallied 7 domain sales in this week’s Other section, which rests just inside the 7, 3, and 8 transaction range of our last 3 weekly updates.
