Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from September 16 to September 22, 2019. We start off the .COM section of this recap with a massive 6-figure transaction, with the premium single-word glance.com selling for $160,000 USD. After that we have a quintet of 5-figure domain sales, headed by aitimes.com at $46,000 USD, but also including spreadgroup.com (28,900 EUR), dne.com ($26,666 USD), iyw.com ($11,100 USD), and wealthpilot.com ($10,000 USD). It’s unusual to find even a single 3-letter .COM on a weekly Sedo chart, so two of them is a real treat. Other notable sales featured the rhyming spangbang.com ($8,888 USD), the first-name xandor.com ($7,700 USD), and the acronym cetrac.com ($6,000 USD). In all, we counted a total of 50 .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is a bit higher than the 42, 34, and 33 qualifier range of our last three Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section can’t keep up with the top-end of the .COM area, but it still has a tightly-bunched trio of 5-figure domains in movie.tw ($10,100 USD), cafe.tw ($10,100 USD), and actualidad.es (10,000 EUR) – it’s quite interesting to see a pair of .TW words selling for 5-figures and no .DE domains in the top 5. Single-words and names seemed to be the ccTLD trend of the week, and we have mafia.no ($5,950 USD), gee.com.au ($5,990 USD), lara.se (5,000 EUR), tens.nl (3,500 EUR), pain.uk (3,200 GBP), and the 2-letter on.do (2,200 EUR) adding to the list, as well as some other foreign words. Overall, this week’s chart featured 18 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is on par with the 18, 17, and 18 range of similar transactions from the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (6 listings), .ES (2 listings), .NL (2), .TW (2), and then single entries for .BE, .COM.AU, .DO, .NO, .SE, and .UK.

The Other section maintains the 1-word domain trend, as the top 3 listing include the 5-figure impacted.org at $15,000 USD, as well as infinity.org (5,825 EUR) and hen.org ($4,999 USD). After that it’s still the .ORG and .NET show, with all but the final entry (hosting.biz at $2,000 USD) sporting these old school gTLDs. Obviously this means another easy victory for the old guard in both the total number and total dollar value challenges. The Other section checked in with 9 total domain sales, which represents a nice increase compared to the 6, 5, and 4 transaction numbers from the last 3 weekly updates.
