Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from September 30 to October 6, 2019. We start off the .COM section of this recap with by far the largest transaction of the week, as the sultry sexe.com changes hands at a very significant 210,000 EUR. Naturally, this is the only 6-figure sale of the week, and on the .COM side of things we move down to 5-figures with heymoney.com ($40,000 USD), ably.com ($17,500 USD), compensaid.com (12,500 EUR), powerhost.com ($12,000 USD), varus.com (10,000 EUR) and (in relative USD), zuiki.com (9,900 EUR). A 4-letter, single-word like ably.com sure looks like a deal for only $17.5K, especially as it also has a positive & business-oriented connotation. Some of the other notable domain transactions included the 1-word collegial.com (7,000 EUR), the Latin word divinus.com ($6,500 USD), the 2-word domains bestoffice.com (6,500 EUR) and boxwater.com (5,500 EUR), and the 4-letters unai.com ($5,000 USD), swpi.com ($2,700 USD), and anua.com ($2,577 USD). In all, we counted a total of 41 .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is the same basic range as the 35, 50, and 42 qualifiers from our last three Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section is down a bit from last week, and we don’t have even a single domain that hit 5-figures. The top listings include the domain span (I hate the “domain hack” misnomer) letme.in at 6,000 EUR, followed by poliermaschine.de (4,999 EUR), attb.de (4,000 EUR), vivino.be (3,250 EUR), and shopify.pe ($3,000 USD) – definitely not a banner week for ccTLDs. Overall, this week’s chart featured only 12 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is down a bit from the incredibly-consistent 18, 18, and 18 range of similar transactions from the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (6 listings), and then single entries for .BE, .CH, .CO.UK, .ES, .IN, and .PE.

The Other section is a closer battle between the old and new guard gTLDs, but the prime sale of madrid.net for a massive 35,000 EUR literally dwarfed the rest of this sub-chart. We did have a mix of the old and new, but it definitely skewed towards the latter camp and included hey.money ($8,888 USD), investors.club ($7,000 USD), and sampledoc.xyz ($4,100 USD). It was also a split in the weekly competitions, with the .NET/.ORG contingent taking the total dollar value challenge while the new gTLDs snagged the total domain number crown by a 4-2 score. The Other section checked in with 6 total domain sales, which stays true to the 4, 9,and 6 transaction numbers (average is 6.25 sales/week) from the last 3 weekly updates.
