Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Report

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

Our Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers domain sales from December 10 to December 16. We start off this recap by addressing the elephant transaction in the room, that being files.com selling for a very sizeable $750,000 USD, and easily ruling this week’s Sedo chart. The next highest transaction was lofis.com at 55,000 EUR, and the other 5-figure sales included cwr.com (19,950 EUR), arbeit.com (19,500 EUR), spielwaren.com (13,500 EUR), and eresearch.com ($15,000 USD). If you’re noticing the majority of the top sales are in EUR, you’re not alone. In all, we counted a total of 31 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is up slightly from the 29 similar sales from last week but down a bit compared to the 41 domains of 2 weeks back.

The ccTLD section of the recap begins with pro.de selling for a very respectable 25,000 EUR, while cloud.es at 18,500 EUR and hypnotize.me hitting $11,999 USD round out the 5-figure group. In addition to hypnotize.me, we also have the single-word domains strategic.eu (6,000 EUR) and look.to ($3,588 USD), as well as the 3-letters vou.se (5,000 EUR) and hus.be (3,040 EUR) all hitting the recap this week. Overall, this week’s chart featured 19 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is just a bit higher than both the 17 sales of last week and the 16 qualifying transactions of the week before that), with the overall auction leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (7 listings), .CH (2), .ES (2), .EU (2), and single entries for .BE, .CO.UK, .IN, .ME, .SE, and .TO.

In the Other section of the chart, the activity level dropped considerably and it resulted in only a pair of domains hitting the $2K mark this week. These domains were wellbeingalliance.org and king.sale, which sold for $5,000 USD and $2,600, respectively. That was it, and with only 2 total sales of $2K or higher, the Other recap ranked just behind the 3 qualifying sales from last week but still well back from the 6 similar transactions of 2 weeks ago.
