ILL.COM Sells For $70K to Headline Sedo’s Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Report

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain sales from January 7 to January 13, 2019. We begin by highlighting yet another high-end sale, this time with ill.com sporting a healthy glow courtesy of a very substantial $70,000 USD sales price. The second-place finisher isn’t that far off, as ndvr.com went for $40,000 USD, but then it’s a big drop off to the other 5-figure domain sales: sauber.com (15,000 EUR), cannabliss.com (12,000 GBP), brasileirinhas.com ($15,000 USD), and bashed.com (12,000 EUR). There wasn’t a single major trend in the .COM sales, and instead we had a nice selection of 3- and 4-letter, word, and pronounceable domains in this recap. In all, we counted a total of 41 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which compares well against the 32 (an average from our 3-week holiday list), 29, and 41 similar sales from the previous 3 Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section of the recap starts off nicely with appiscreen.fr selling for 27,300 EUR, and is followed by a pair of 5-figure transactions, as cosmetic.de and lokalnachrichten.de each went for an even 10,000 EUR. Other domain sales of interest include noma.de (5,800 EUR), paybit.se (4,999 EUR), and filebox.cn ($5,385 USD), while the bottom of the chart contained a trio of single-word transactions in wonders.es (2,000 EUR), cage.fr (2,000 EUR), and rainbow.fr (2,000 EUR). Overall, this week’s chart featured 14 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which compared to the ~11 sales average from our 3-week holiday recap, and to the 17 and 16 qualifying transactions of our previous 2 recaps), with the overall auction leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (4 listings), .FR (3), .CN (2), and single entries for .CH, .CO.UK, .ES, .NO, and .SE.

This week’s Other section of the chart is not very exciting, but at least we have a bit of a surprise in which domain took first place. The new gTLD go.holdings not only outpaced all of the .NET and .ORG domains, but at a selling price of $19,000 USD, it was also the only 5-figure score in this area. The old school contingent quickly took over after with xnx.net ($5,000 USD), curso.net (3,500 EUR), knife.org ($3,888 USD), and tmce.org (3,075 EUR) but all of the .NET + .ORG sales barely equaled the first $19K transaction. The end result was 7 domain sales, including 3 .NET, 2 .ORG and 2 other gTLD, which compares to the ~5 weekly average of our amalgamated holiday chart, and the 2 and 3 similar transactions from the 2 previous recaps.
