Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Report

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from January 21 to January 28, 2019. We begin with the top .COM listing as paulvalentine.com sold for 24,000 EUR, which was followed by viacash.com ($15,000 USD), 3dprints.com (11,500 EUR), realshares.com ($9,999 USD), and truevideo.com ($9,500 USD). There were a lot of individual .COM sales this week, but with the highest being only 24K EUR, the chart lacks that top-end transaction that creates a stir. There were also no LLL.com domains sold and only a limited number of single-words, which certainly contributed to the lack of a headliner auction. In all, we counted a total of 45 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which compares  to the 42, 41, and ~32 (an average from our 3-week holiday list), similar sales from the previous 3 Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section contains the biggest Sedo sale of the week as play.de went for an even 30,000 EUR. There were also a pair of nice 3-letter domain transactions below that, with luz.es hitting 19,000 EUR and doc.ae going for $10,000 USD. There were no firm trends this week, although along with the chart leader play.de, other single-word domains included inhabit.co ($5,000 USD), bonus.mx ($4,688 USD) and the GEO thailand.be (4,000 EUR). Overall, this week’s chart featured 13 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which we measure against the 12 sales last week, the 14 of the week before that, and the ~11 sales average from our 3-week holiday recap), with the overall auction leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (4 listings), and single entries for .AE, .BE, .CH, .CO, .CO.UK, .ES, .EU, .FR, and .MX.

The Other section of our recap contains only a limited number of domain listings, and these are all huddled within the same basic price range. We start with bewerbung.info hitting 4,201 EUR, then mojohosting.net and pro.group selling for 4,500 USD and 3,000 EUR, respectively. After being shut out last week, the new gTLDs took revenge and held down the majority of the Sedo sales in this area, winning 3 to 2 against the old school .NET/.ORG contingent. The end result was only 5 Other domain sales in total, which compares to the 4 sales last week, the 7 transactions from 2 weeks ago, and the ~5 weekly average of our amalgamated holiday chart.
