Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Report

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

The Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers domain sales from September 10 to September 16. This week there were 10 .COM domain sales that reached 5-figures, including sudden.com and cyn.com, both at $24,950 USD, followed by directbooks.com ($20,000 USD), ninjasports.com ($19,000 USD), bestmind.com ($15,000 USD), and connectedfreight.com ($15,000 USD). Trivio.com and trasna.com are a pair of interesting pronounceables at $10,000 USD and 4,500 EUR, respectively, while memed.com selling for only $5,000 USD seems like a relative steal. Overall, we tallied 46 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is virtually equivalent to the 47 sales of last week’s chart but represents a big jump from the 31 Sedo $2K qualifiers from two weeks ago.

Recently, the ccTLD section of the recap has hidden one monster sale that leads the pack, but not this week. The largest was depotcheck.de at a very respectable 16,500 EUR, just ahead of paybit.eu (10,450 EUR), inq.co (9,999 EUR), and pb.co.uk (8,400 GBP). Another very interesting domain was the single-letter s.hr selling for $4,000 USD, as we don’t see a lot of single-letters changing hands, no matter the ccTLD. Overall, this week’s chart included 19 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (down a bit from the 23 sales from last week but a significant jump compared to the 9 qualifying transactions of the week before that) and the overall auction leaders sorted out in this order: .DE (9 listings), .CH (2), .CO (2), .CO.ZA (2), .EU (2), and single entries for .CO.UK and .HR.

The Other domain recap is similar in numbers to last week, but the big news is the top sale, as qnet.org went for a hefty $27,250 USD to lead the entire Sedo chart. It was a big drop-off after that, with smile.direct being the next-closest transaction at only 6,000 EUR. Overall, there were 5 total sales in the Other category this week (with the majority being .NET and .ORG domains), in comparison to the 6 sales from last week and the single one from 2 weeks ago.
