Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Report
Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher. This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .NET, .ORG and other gTLDs.
Two weeks ago we saw this recap dominated by non-.COM domains, but that trend didn’t last very long and this week it’s just a distant memory. The Sedo Weekly Domain Name Sales Recap for March 20 shows another pair of major transactions, with dax.com selling for $500,000 USD and edit.com hitting $140,000 USD. While these were the only 6-figure sales for the week, wsb.com wasn’t exactly a shrinking violet at a price of $40,000 USD. After those three domains, we come back down to Earth in a hurry, with vipmom.com ($17,500 USD), bluechew.com ($15,000 USD) and linears.com ($12,000 USD) being the next three in line. The CryptoCoin domain fad seems to have cooled down quite a bit, and now everyone needs somewhere to hide all those illicit profits, hence the massive 20-character domain offshorebankaccounts.com selling for $6,000 USD.
The ccTLD section of the chart is has slowed down a bit this week, with vasquez.cl being the largest sale at 10,000 EUR. This was followed by aja.de (9,990 EUR), bauchstraffung.de (7,850 EUR) and logik.de (6,666 EUR), along with some other interesting sales like the 2-letter gg.fi (2,100 EUR), the pothead domain toke.ca ($2,490 USD) and the dual-threat fragrancenet.ae/fragrancenet.nz domains, which sold for $2,999 USD each. There were 16 ccTLD domain sales that hit at least $2K in price (down from 23 last week), and the overall auction leaders came out in this order: .DE (5 listings) and then a laundry list of single entries for .AE, .CA, .CH, .CO, .COM.AU, .FI, .GR, .NZ, and .SI. Surprisingly, the .IO ccTLD, which had been a darling of the Sedo recap over the past few weeks, failed to register even a single qualifying sale.
The Other category is quickly becoming an afterthought, and this week’s auction results are not doing anything to change that mindset. The big sale was crypto.club going for $10,000 USD, and after that we have a quartet of .ORG domains selling for between $2,500 and $5,000 USD. This also makes it the third week in a row without a single qualifying .NET domain sale, while .ORG at least continues to chug along.
