Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from August 5 to August 11, 2019. We start off the .COM section of this recap with the 3-letter exl.com selling for an even $50,000 USD to lead the entire Sedo chart. Next up we have jcorps.com ($15,000 USD), jgarrison.com ($13,500 USD), azurgroup.com ($10,000 USD), and horeka.com (9,910 EUR) completing the run of 5-figure transactions (in relative USD). Other prominent domains changing hands include a pair of mixed 3-character listings, py1.com ($9,899 USD) and ai4.com ($9,000 USD), the 2-words airfast.com (8,880 EUR) and importantidea.com ($8,000 USD), the brandable residently.com (5,500 GBP) and outly.com (3,950 EUR), and even the Dutch single-word (flute) fluit.com (5,500 EUR). In all, we counted a total of 39 .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, and this is in the same basic range as the 31, 45, and 49 qualifiers of last three Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section doesn’t have the dizzying highs and lows of the .COM section, and we start off pretty well where we end. The single-word domain acquisitions.fr leads the way at only 6,000 EUR, followed by hus.ch (3,999 EUR), medicalinsurance.in ($3,950 USD), 12news.uz ($3,930 USD), and digital-campus.de (3,900 EUR). There were a few other 3-letter domain sales like the interesting hack-pronounceable hoo.kr ($2,880 USD) and the more traditional meo.uk (2,000 EUR), several 2-word names that include pocketbook.se (3,000 EUR), classpass.ch ($2,888 USD), and the hyphenated get-cloud.de (2,500 EUR), as well as the single-word collagen.cn (2,588 EUR). Overall, this week’s chart featured 19 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is roughly on par with the 15, 21, and 27 range of similar transactions of the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (6 listings), .CH (2), CO.UK (2), and then single entries for .CN, .FR, .HK, .IN, .JP, .KR, .SE, .UK, and .UZ.

The Other section of our recap starts off with the 2-word giftshop.net leading the way at an $8,000 USD price tag, and we continues this trend though the next three entries, including the single-word relax.net at 4,488 EUR, all of which sport the .NET extension. While not expressly a new gTLD, castilla.info closes off the section at a price tag of 2,499 GBP, and is the only non-.NET on this area of chart. This means it’s another clean sweep for the old guard in our total number and total dollar value challenge segments of our recap. The Other section checked in with 5 total domain sales, which is similar to the 6, 3, and 2 transaction range from our last 3 weekly updates.
