Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from August 12 to August 18, 2019. We start off the .COM section of this recap with the top sale of the week, as pharmeasy.com changes hands an even 30,000 EUR, and it was followed closely by digitalbrain.com at a very respectable 25,500 EUR. These were the only 5-figure .COM transactions, although with a price tag of $9,880 USD, catadoption.com did finish extremely close. There were other notable sales, including the 2-word domains winlink.com (7,800 EUR), cricketexchange.com ($6,250 USD), and nicethings.com ($5,500 USD), the brandables lingu.com ($9,000 USD), seekify.com ($5,000 USD), and zigns.com ($3,500 USD), along with the pronounceable names flybi.com ($6,000 USD), playza.com ($3,400 USD), and netzon.com ($3,000 USD). In all, we counted a total of 35 .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which remains in the same basic range as the 39, 31, and 45 qualifiers of last three Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section features only a single domain that reached a 5-figure price, and huisdieren.nl did so by the skin of its teeth, squeaking in at exactly $10,000 USD. There were also a couple of 3-letter transactions, as ofb.fr took in a healthy 4,800 EUR and leo.in scored $2,999 USD. The single-word domains forum.io ($4,000 USD), mend.us ($3,999 USD), mediation.uk (2,000 GBP), and data.ag ($2,000 USD) also did well. Overall, this week’s chart featured 17 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is still on par with the 19, 15, and 21 range of similar transactions from the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (8 listings), and then single entries for .AG, .AT, .FR, .IN, .IO, .NL, .SE, .UK, and .US.

The Other section of our recap starts off with a bang, as the 2-letter ui.dev achieves the 3rd-highest price on this week’s Sedo board with a price tag of $25,000 USD. We drop off noticeably from there with the next three transactions being topsoil.net ($9,880 USD), vipnet.net (4,300 EUR), and bit.bio (3,999 EUR), but there is a lot more domain diversity than usual, especially the unusual anwalt.koeln sale at 2,500 EUR. It’s also a total reversal from the last several weeks, as the non-.NET/.ORG contingent wins both the total number and total dollar value challenge segments, and the dollar battle wasn’t even close. The Other section checked in with 11 total domain sales, which is up considerably next to the 5, 6, and 3 transaction range from our last 3 weekly updates.
