Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from July 29 to August 4, 2019. We start off the .COM section of this recap with the veritable elephant in the room, as the 2-letter rx.com hit 7-figures and sold for a whopping $1,000,000 USD. Obviously, there is a bit of a drop-off after that, and next up is the 2-character 7f.com hitting $68,000 USD, while the only other 5-figure transaction was raumfabrik.com at an even 10,000 EUR. Other notable sales were highlighted by a trio of LLLL’s that included dddj.com (8,440 EUR), rivn.com ($4,000 USD), and pvsh.com ($4,000 USD), the 2-word domains cityhotel.com ($9,000 USD), spinlabs.com ($5,000 USD), and bloodshot.com ($4,101 USD), along with the single-word refereed.com ($2,500 USD). In all, we counted a total of 31 .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, and this is down compared to the 45, 49, and 56 qualifiers of last three Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section begins with the lone 5-figure sale of piano.tv, which tuned up to a “grand” total of $15,000 USD. A few short domains appeared near the top of the list in the form of gls.co (7,999 GBP) and v5.io ($3,488 USD), and there were also several single-words like setup.uk (3,293 GBP), servicios.es ($2,500 USD), wardrobes.de (2,200 EUR), and moment.at (2,000 EUR), as well as 2-word domains such as luxurycottages.co.uk (5,000 GBP), digitalshadows.de (2,500 EUR), and smartflat.de (2,500 EUR). Overall, this week’s chart featured 15 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is down from the 21, 27, and 17 range of similar transactions of the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (7 listings), and then single entries for .AT, .CO, .CO.UK, .ES, .EU, .IO, .TV, and .UK.

The Other section of our recap starts off with the 3-letter atc.net changing hands for 9,888 EUR and then shopee.org at $5,000 USD, and from that it should be very clear which direction this area of the chart is heading. It’s almost a total wipeout victory for the old gTLD guard, with the only newbie appearance being letter.one (2,000 EUR) at the bottom of the chart. Other than that, we have three .NETS and two .ORGs, so it’s really no contest in the total number and total dollar value challenge segments of our recap. The Other domains checked in with 6 total sales, which is higher than the 3, 2, and 5 transaction range from our last 3 weekly updates.
