Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from June 10 to June 16, 2019. We start off the .COM section of this recap with fgre.com taking home the top sale on the entire list by changing hands at a very respectable $35,000 USD, and it follows up with ifold.com hitting $22,500 to place second overall.  Additional 5-figure .COM sales also include finko.com ($12,000 USD), sleekfashion.com ($10,000 USD), and cruisemate.com ($10,000 USD). In terms of other notable .COM domain sale results, we have the Crypto-centric bitcoininc.com (8,849 EUR), the single-word lyres.com ($6,980 USD), the pronounceable pargo.com ($3,999), the repeating solosolo.com ($6,000 USD), and the two-word fitbag.com ($8,000 USD). In all, we counted a total of 42 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is way up from the 26 qualifiers of last week, but roughly on par with the 38 and 36 similar sales from the prior two Sedo domain recaps.

The ccTLD section begins as most do, with a .DE in the lead, and this time it’s melatonin.de hitting 5-figures at 14,875 EUR. Following this there are a lot of single-words, places, and names to report, including  alps.ch (9,700 EUR), placement.co ($8,000 USD), robin.co ($6,000 USD), and dara.us ($3,999 USD), just to name the top ones. The 3-letter market also woke up a bit, as ebo.io and ftg.eu sold for 3,000 EUR and 2,500 GBP, respectively. Overall, this week’s chart featured 14 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is roughly equivalent to the pair of 13’s from the past 2 weeks, but still down from the 24 transactions of the week before that), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (4 listings), .CO (2), .IO (2), and then single entries for .AT, .CH, .CO.UK .EU, .ME, and .US.

The Other section of our recap is another mix of the new and old gTLD guard, and to start we should mention that 4u.tube ($12,000 USD) is an older private listing that recently went public – we’re including it in our weekly chart, but not in the old vs. new gTLD accounting. The big sale of the week was bitnet.org at 18,200 USD, with the only other 5-figure transaction being one.network, which hit an even 10,000 EUR. In terms of individual sales, the .ORG/.NET contingent took the crown in a close (4-3) fight, but the total dollar war wasn’t even close, as the old guard annihilated the new by a good margin. In terms of overall sales, the 8 total Other domain sales of $2K or greater was just a bit higher than the 6, 5, and 6 transactions from our last 3 weekly updates.
