Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from July 15 to July 21, 2019. We start off the .COM section of this recap with the top three domain sales on the Sedo list, as greencarpet.com sold for 33,000 EUR, while mondia.com and tinka.com were not far back at $30,000 USD and $25,000 USD, respectively. The other 5-figure transactions included coindeck.com ($12,000 USD) and adultrating.com ($10,000 USD), although both xij.com ($9,999 USD) and everheart.com ($9,880 USD) were very close. Other notable sales were the multi-word greaterthings.com ($9,488 USD), the brandable jaxxon.com ($8,500 USD), and the single-word perched.com ($6,000 USD). In all, we counted a total of 49 .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, and this compares well to the 56, 37, and 42 qualifiers of last three Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section begins a bit differently, as none of the top 4 entries use the .DE extension, and whatever.co.uk heads our list at an impressive 16,000 GBP. The other 5-figure domains are charge.io (13,000 EUR), wefox.jp (9,500 EUR), and oro.co (8,900 EUR), with the last two making the grade based on “adjusted USD”. There were a few other notable ccTLD transactions, such as the 2-letter cw.co.uk (5,100 GBP), the 3-letter domains voi.se (5,450 EUR), grs.be (4,750 EUR), and mif.se (4,000 EUR), the first-name charlie.be (5,000 EUR), and the single-words polar.io ($4,800 USD), equals.io (3,700 EUR), and smiles.io ($3,000 USD). Overall, this week’s chart featured 27 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is a bit higher than the 17, 22, and 17 similar transactions of the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (7 listings), .IO (4), .BE (3), .SE (3), .CO.UK (2), .EU (2), .NL (2), and then single entries for .CO, .IN, .JP, and .US.

The Other section of our recap is a bit of a disappointment compared to the numbers in the previous two areas. There were only a pair of Other domains sales, the new gTLD-based human.capital and future.careers, at $15,500 USD and 5,000 EUR, respectively. That’s the beginning and end for this portion of our recap, which was a clean sweep for the new guard. This week’s 2 total Other domain sales of $2K or greater was definitely a bit lower than the 5, 6, and 5 transaction range from our last 3 weekly updates.
