Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from June 24 to June 30, 2019. We start off the .COM section of this recap with the only pair of 5-figure transactions of the week, as omnibiotic.com changed hands for $16,500 USD and savu.com made it based on relative USD with a price tag of 9,850 GBP. There were a few others that came close, such as osxr.com ($9,999 USD), timata.com ($9,888 USD), and 4589.com ($9,100 USD), while some other notable sales included the compound/2-word sexygame.com ($8,000 USD), multitap.com ($7,000 USD), and freshportal.com ($6,900 USD), as well as the pronounceable knowd.com ($6,500 USD), velvio.com (4,900 EUR), and meepl.com ($4,900 USD). In all, we counted a total of 42 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is roughly equivalent to the 40 and 42 qualifiers of last two weeks, but is up from the 26 Sedo domain recap of the week before that.

The ccTLD section begins with the two largest domains sales on the entire chart, with the 2-letter it.de taking home the crown at a very healthy 49,000 EUR and longdai.cn selling for a respectable (if uneven) $19,385 USD. There were even two more 5-figure ccTLD domain transactions, as digitalprinting.ie and finder.co sported price tags of 16,000 EUR and $10,000 USD, respectively. The 3-letter brigade also made something of a comeback, and eom.de (6,000 EUR), ves.co (4,960 USD), and lio.li ($3,300 USD) all finished in the upper mid-range of the list. Overall, this week’s chart featured 17 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is down compared to the 24 of last week but up from the 14 and 13 similar transactions of the prior 2 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (7 listings), .CN (2), .CO (2), .IT (2), and then single entries for .IE, .IO, .KR, and .LI.

The Other section of our recap is almost totally comprised of old school domains, as surplus.net and exr.org lead the way at price tags of $15,000 USD and $8,800 USD, respectively, while the lone new gTLD was coin.bet at 5,500 EUR. After that, it’s just more of the .NET/.ORG contingent in another very convincing win in the ongoing war between the old and new guard. In terms of overall sales, the 5 total Other domain sales of $2K or greater was at the low end of the 9, 8, and 6 transaction range from our last 3 weekly updates.
