Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from June 17 to June 23, 2019. We start off the .COM section of this recap with one the bigger sales of 2019 as links.com changed hands at a significant price tag of $700,000 USD, easily leading the entire Sedo chart. Surprisingly, it wasn’t that big of a drop down to second place, as auer.com still hit 6-figures and sold for a very respectable $100,000 USD. We follow this up with a long list of 5-figure sales, including forschool.com ($42,000 USD), tillit.com ($25,000 USD), medicarebenefits.com ($20,000 USD), gathered.com ($12,000 USD), inlike.com ($12,000 USD), kokemuksia.com (10,000 EUR), rentjerseyshore.com ($10,000 USD), and ziptix.com ($10,000 USD). In all, we counted a total of 40 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is roughly equivalent to the 42 qualifiers of last week, but is up from the 26 and 38 similar sales from the prior two Sedo domain recaps.

The ccTLD section begins with a very significant transaction, relative to the ccTLD market, with the 2-character numeric 21.de hitting 79,730 EUR. We follow that with two more impressive domain sales, as analytics.ai and cats.co were purchased for $50,000 and $26,500 USD, respectively. Other 5-figure ccTLD sales included finder.in ($15,000 USD), gutscheincode.at (10,000 EUR) and gutscheincode.ch (10,000 EUR), while other notable domain names featured the single words accelerate.ai (8,500 EUR) and mademoiselle.fr (4,800 EUR), the 3-letter esg.me ($4,330 USD) and ojo.ca ($4,000 USD), and the brandable flexy.co (6,500 EUR), temsa.de (3,500 EUR), and mercuri.dk (2,300 EUR). Overall, this week’s chart featured 24 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which way up from the 14, 13, and 13 similar transactions of the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (7 listings), .AI (3), .CO (2), .CO.UK (2), .IN (2), and then single entries for .CA, .CH, .CO.IN, .CO.KE, .DK, .FR, .KR, and .ME.

The Other section of our recap breaks away from the old pattern of showcasing a battle between the old and new guard, and instead is a statement of the enduring power of the .NET and .ORG domains. We start off with casinos.org hitting $400,000 USD to take second place on the overall Sedo chart, and we continue this trend with tomorrow.net reaching $48,216 USD. After that, it’s more of the same, with the .NET/.ORG contingent taking over almost the entire section, and contact.agency (4,000 EUR) is the only new gTLD. In terms of overall sales, the 9 total Other domain sales of $2K or greater was just a bit higher than the 8, 6, and 5 transactions from our last 3 weekly updates.
