Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from January 20, 2020 to January 26, 2020. We start off the .COM section of this recap with a pair of domain transaction that tied for the lead, as both optiman.com and gpracing.com both sported $15,000 USD price tags. We round out the 5-figure auction list with boix.com (12,100 EUR) and barkada.com (10,000 EUR), although the IDN 888.com came very close at $9,999 USD. In all, we counted a total of 38 .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is in the same area code as the 43, 38, and 32 qualifier range of our prior three Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section of our recap begins with a real bang, as apuestas.es (“betting” in Spanish) led the entire Sedo chart with a massive sale price of 111,625 EUR. The 3-letter csa.co was the only other 5-figure entry at 12,000 GBP, with huobi.in $8,800 USD) being the next-closest. Overall, this week’s chart featured 16 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is just off the same range as the 19, 20, and 17 similar transactions from the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (6 listings), .CO (2), .EU (2), and then single entries for .BE, .CH, .ES, .IN, .IO, and .RU.

The Other portion of the Sedo chart is not displaying a lot of activity this week, and that’s actually an understatement. It’s a NET affair that begins with businessclass.net at a very healthy $19,072 USD and ends with cartex.net checking in at $2,800 USD. This makes kind of a mockery of our total domain number and the total dollar value challenges, both of which are taken by the old guard. We tallied only 2 domain sales in this week’s Other section, which surprisingly still placed within the 8, 4, and 2 transaction range of our last 3 weekly updates.
