Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from January 27, 2020 to February 2, 2020. We start off the .COM section of this recap with one of the top sales, as $65,000 USD in chips were put all-in for the crypto-domain bitcoinpoker.com. The remainder of the 5-figure domain contingent included yourplanet.com ($15,888 USD), hostinfo.com (15,000 EUR), cadfem.com ($14,985 USD), and modr.com ($10,000 USD), while verifiedproviders.com fell just short at $9,880 USD. Other notable .COM domain sales featured the 1-word hermit.com ($9,000 USD), the 2-word mutualfederal.com ($9,000 USD), and the pronounceable ranglr.com ($5,000 USD). In all, we counted a total of 47 .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is a nice jump compared to the 38, 43, and 38 qualifier range of our prior three Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section of our recap begins with chauffage.fr (“heater” in French) leading the entire chart (in relative USD) by posting an impressive 62,500 EUR price tag. The 3-letter hza.de follows this up at 11,000 EUR, but this is the only other transaction that reached 5-figures. There were still  few notable domain sales, such as the 3-letter hlk.de (5,500 EUR) and dad.co (which looks like a steal at 2,500 GBP), the single-words kamper.de (5,000 EUR), citizenship.io (4,000 EUR), and chic.co.uk (3,999 GBP), and we close off with the rare 1-letter y.gy ($2,299 USD). Overall, this week’s chart featured 22 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is just a bit higher than the 16, 19, and 20 similar transactions from the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (8 listings), .FR (2), .GR (2), and then single entries for .AT, .CH, .CO, .CO.UK, .ES, .GY, .IN, .IO, .LT, and .US.

The Other portion of the Sedo chart is where short is definitely in fashion. We start off with the 4-letter aitc.net leading the section at a price of 5,500 EUR, followed by the 2-character 4k.net ($5,099 USD) and the 4-letter asmr.net (5,000 GBP). There were also two new gTLD listings, but these came lower on the chart and essentially made both the total domain number and the total dollar value challenges a cakewalk for the old guard, although it should be noted that .ORG has no shown up in the last 2 Sedo recaps. We tallied 6 domain sales in this week’s Other section, which is still within the 2, 8, and 4 transaction range of our last 3 weekly updates.
