Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from February 3, 2020 to February 9, 2020. We start off the .COM section of this recap with the two highest priced domains on the chart, as the 1-word stairs.com climbed up to a lofty $67,500 USD and the 2-word thaicasino.com is not far behind with a payoff of $60,000 USD. There were only two other Sedo listings that also hit a 5-figure price, with adventus.com ($22,500 USD) and mandap.com ($20,010 USD) surpassing the $20K barrier, while the 3-letter kvz.com fell only a dollar short at exactly $9,999 USD. In all, we counted a total of 41 .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is on par with the 47, 38, and 43 qualifier range of our prior three Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section of our recap begins with a big surprise, as a .CA is unexpectedly leading the charge, specifically jane.ca at a very respectable price tag of $25,000 USD. We also have a nice selection of 5-figure ccTLDs sales, including homedo.fr (17,000 EUR), cams.de (15,243 EUR), naturwald.de (15,000 EUR), finca.de (12,000 EUR), and controller.io (10,800 EUR). There were a few other single-word domains on the list, such as tarot.co.uk (6,995 GBP), chats.at (4,500 EUR), gas.li ($2,888 USD), and nucleus.co ($2,500 USD). Overall, this week’s chart featured 19 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which hits in the same range as the 22, 16, and 19 similar transactions from the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (8 listings), .AT (3), .CO.UK (2), and then single entries for .CA, .CO, .FR, .IO, .LI, and .TV.

The Other portion of the Sedo chart may not be a hotbed of activity, but at least it’s very consistent this week. With a pair of .ORG and a pair of .NET domains (headed by casting.org going for $6,888 USD and advisors.org at 5,000 EUR) comprising the entire section, it makes a mockery of the total domain number and the total dollar value challenges, both of which are an obvious cakewalk for the old guard. We tallied 4 domain sales in this week’s Other section, which is still within the 6, 2, and 8 transaction range of our last 3 weekly updates.
