Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from February 10, 2020 to February 16, 2020. We start off the .COM section of this recap with the big dog in the yard, as the aptly-named profitable.com pays off with a huge 6-figure sale in the amount of $200,000 USD. It’s a massive drop-off after that, and there isn’t even another 5-figure sale to report, although both the spicy sextoyshop.com (9,990 EUR) and staid oneboard.com ($9,500 USD) just miss the mark. In all, we counted a total of 28 .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is a big drop compared to the 41, 47, and 38 qualifier range of our prior three Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section of our recap begins with buchhaltung.de leading the way with a 22,500 EUR price tag, and is followed by a trio of 5-figure domains that includes tiptop.ch (10,000 EUR), ffbi.cn ($10,000 USD), and memories.co ($10,000 USD). Other notable domain transactions include the 3-letter domains bdg.io ($3,899 USD), mpi.at (3,099 EUR), ona.com.au ($2,750 USD), cup.co ($2,608 USD), rep.co ($2,600 USD), and zou.fr (2,390 EUR), as well as single-words like weird.io ($3,555 USD), opera.it (3,000 EUR), and step.io ($3,000 USD). Overall, this week’s chart featured 21 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is in the same range as the 19, 22, and 16 similar transactions from the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .CO (3 listings), .DE (3 listings), .IO (3 listings), .CH (2), .CN (2), .FR (2), .IT (2), and then single entries for .AT, .COM.AU, .PT, and .UK.

The Other portion of the Sedo chart is again not a very active part of the overall sales, but at least we did see a small jump in overall number of transactions. First up is computers.biz selling at $4,875 USD, and no one needs to say that it’s extremely rare that any .BIZ topx this section. After that is a pair of .NET sales and also a pair of new gTLD sales, which means the total domain number and the total dollar value challenges both go to the new guard. We tallied 5 domain sales in this week’s Other section, which is still within the 4, 6, and 2 transaction range of our last 3 weekly updates.
