Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from January 13, 2020 to January 19, 2020. We start off the .COM section of this recap with the top sale of the week, as meals2go.com took in a hefty $44,200 USD to lead not only the .COM section, but also the entire Sedo chart. Other 5-figure (in adjusted USD) transactions included the numeric 8504.com ($20,000 USD), as well as spcr.com ($12,500 USD), sellershome.com (12,000 EUR), blackeagle.com ($10,000 USD), and tatneft.com (9,900 EUR). In all, we counted a total of 43 .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is higher than the 38, 32, and 35 qualifier range from our prior three Sedo recaps.

The ccTLD section of our recap begins with the 3-character numeric 265.cc checking in at a sale price of $25,000 USD, but this was the only 5-figure domain in this section. It was followed by vuelos.cl (7,500 EUR), course.de (7,050 EUR), limobier.de (6,500 EUR), quince.co ($5,000 USD), and pay.rs (4,899 EUR), but those were the only ones that hit at least $5,000 in adjusted USD. Overall, this week’s chart featured 19 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is within the same range as the 20, 17, and 16 similar transactions from the prior 3 recaps), with the country extension leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (6 listings), .CH (3), .SE(2), and then single entries for .CA, .CC, .CL, .CO, .EU, .NL, .NO, and .RS.

The Other portion of the Sedo chart is showing a bit more activity this week, especially where it concerns the new gTLD market. This section is headed by asia.casino ($10,000 USD), ckb.org ($9,800 USD), and kimbo.coffee (5,000 EUR), giving the new kids on the block 2 of the top 3 entries. Unfortunately, that is as far as this battle goes, as everything else is either .NET or .ORG, leading to another landslide victory for the old guard in both the total domain number and the total dollar value challenges. We tallied 8 domain sales in this week’s Other section, which was a nice stop up from the 4, 2, and 7 transaction range of our last 3 weekly updates.
