Sedo Weekly Domain Sales Recap

Each week, the online domain marketplace Sedo.com releases a list of their top public domain sales of $2,000 USD or higher (private sales are not reported). This chart is separated into three sections, the .COM domains, the ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains) and lastly, the Other domains, which represents the .ORG, .NET and other gTLDs.

This Sedo Weekly Public Domain Sales Recap covers public domain transactions from May 13 to May 19, 2019. We start off the .COM section of this recap with both rapt.com and tome.com selling for an even $25,000 USD, while jazzyou.com is nor far back at 24,888. The rest of the 5-figure price tags (in relative USD) included the pot-powered cannabismedia.com ($19,999 USD), along with rjoy.com ($15,000 USD), zbo.com ($14,016 USD), silkroadtravel.com ($11,500 USD), and agence.com ($10,000 USD), while cesarine.com and tripus.com each changed hands for 9,900 EUR. In all, we counted a total of 42 Sedo .COM transactions of $2,000 or higher this week, which is right on target with the 42 of last week and also close to the 50, and 42 similar sales from the previous two Sedo domain recaps.

The ccTLD section begins with an interesting domain extension, as zilingo.com.au headed the chart with a price of $7,059 USD, staying just ahead of maya.nl at 6,750 EUR. The other notable domains were all single or multi-word and included cruise.us ($4,795 USD), starlink.in ($3,500 USD), bestsecret.ro (3,000 EUR), and compass.me (2,750 EUR), while there was little in the way of short domain names. Overall, this week’s chart featured 13 ccTLD domain sales that reached a price of at least $2K (which is up from the 8 sales of last week, but fell compared to the 17 and 25 from the prior 2 weeks), with the overall country leaders sorting out in this order: .DE (2 listings), .IN (2 listings), and then single entries for .CO.ZA, .COM.AU, .ES, .FR, .JP, .ME, .NL, .RO, and .US. Last week we saw the German .DE fail to take the crown for the first time in recent memory, but at least it ties with the Indian .IN for the lead this week.

The Other section of our recap is another battleground between the new and old guard, with ngfl.net ($8,888 USD) and spain.org ($7,500 USD) leading the way before the first new gTLD, fox.bet (6,999 EUR) hits the scene, followed by another country domain, england.org ($6,500 USD). The overall face-off between the old and new gTLDs started off close, with the .ORG/.NET contingent taking the individual sales crown 5 to 3, but it annihilated the competition in terms of total dollars by almost a 2 to 1 ratio. In terms of overall sales, the 8 total Other domain sales of $2K or greater was again very close to the 8, 6, and 8 transaction range from the last 3 weekly updates.
