Top 10 Trending Keywords in .COM and .NET Registrations for July
Verisign has released their Top 10 Trending .COM and .NET English Keywords for July 2019. These are the most popular domain registration keywords used during the month, and can help give us an inside view of the hottest trends, news, styles, events, and even people, as it applies to registered .COM and .NET domain names.
In last month’s keyword list, the Versign blog was initially dominated by the popular cryptocurrency entrant LIBRA, which topped both the .COM and .NET keyword charts. After that, it was a morass of differing terms, from SNAFU and PSYCHEDELIC on the .COM side, to the more gambling-oriented CASINO and BET from the .NET contingent. Some trends did continue on, as LIBRA led to CURRENCY, and the .NET betting phase also included the ever-popular POKER. As noted above, LIBRA not only cross-pollinated both keyword sets, but also headlined both charts.
In July, the .COM keyword list starts off with the classic TEXT, before moving on to GLASSES, REMOTE, and INDEX. It’s here that we see a definite tonal shift towards the upcoming school season, beginning with the expected YEAR, then continuing with TERM, FEE, and PAPERS, while tossing in BRACES for good measure a bit later in the list. The last remaining keyword was JUMBO, which really doesn’t directly relate to any of the above keywords and has little if anything to do with pop culture events.
It’s a bit of a different story in the .NET section of the keyword list, which begins with the venerable INSURANCE, which is one the top search terms on the entire internet. Next up is WEDDING, which may have some connection to subsequent keywords like RAGE, MASS, and LAWYER. Other top .NET terms include the every-popular CANNA, VIRTUAL, and GURU, all of which have popped up on the Verisign lists from time to time. We finish off with the complementary FALLS and HARD, which means that none of the keywords were featured in both areas, so we’ll have to wait for August’s list to be released to see if this trend continues.
